Maintenance Coverage by Instrument

(included in Monthly Maintenance Fee)

Maintenance covers normal wear, adjustments, and standard repairs that result from regular use. 
Maintenance does NOT cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, neglect, or loss. 
Final determination is made by Elefante Music’s repair technicians. 
Maintenance also does not include the replacement of:
  • Missing or broken mouthpieces
  • Orchestral or fretted strings
  • Reeds
  • Accessories including rosin, neck straps, valve oil, slide oil, and swabs
  • Instrument cases

Woodwind Instruments
(Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Soprano Sax, Oboe, Bass Clarinet, Piccolo)

Maintenance covered:

  • Pad adjustments and regulation
  • Minor leak sealing
  • Spring tension adjustments
  • Cork replacement (neck cork, tenon corks)
  • Key fitting and alignment
  • Minor cleaning and lubrication
  • Loose screw tightening

Maintenance not covered:

  • Cracked or broken bodies
  • Bent keys from impact
  • Missing or broken pads due to water damage or mold from improper storage
  • Damage caused by improper assembly or force

Brass Instruments
(Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Baritone, Tuba)

Maintenance covered:

  • Valve cleaning and lubrication
  • Slide cleaning and lubrication
  • Minor dent removal (small, shallow dents)
  • Minor solder touch-ups (non-structural)
  • Basic alignment adjustments
  • Stuck valve or slide removal (non-damage related)

Maintenance not covered:

  • Major dents or crushed tubing
  • Broken braces
  • Bent slides from drops
  • Valve damage caused by impact
  • Red rot or corrosion from neglect

String Instruments
(Violin, Viola, Cello, Upright Bass)

Maintenance covered:

  • Bridge adjustments (minor)
  • Soundpost adjustment (if safe and stable)
  • Peg lubrication and fitting
  • Labor for string replacement
  • Fine tuner repair or replacement
  • Seam gluing caused by normal seasonal changes
  • Bow replacement for normal usage (such as frayed/thinning hair)

Maintenance not covered:

  • String replacement
  • Cracks in top, back, or ribs
  • Broken necks or scrolls
  • Bow damage or replacement beyond normal usage (such as cracked frog)
  • Damage from falls or pressure
  • Soundpost cracks or structural failure

Percussion Kits
(Snare Kits, Bell Kits, Snare & Bell Combo Kits)

Maintenance covered:

  • Minor hardware tightening
  • Spring and pedal adjustments
  • Minor part replacement due to wear
  • Basic head adjustments (not head replacement)

Maintenance not covered:

  • Cracked frames or bars
  • Bent stands from force
  • Broken pedals due to misuse
  • Missing components
  • Head breakage due to impact

Fretted Instruments
(Guitars)

Maintenance Covered:

  • Basic tuning and setup
  • Minor truss rod adjustments
  • String replacement due to normal wear
  • Nut and saddle adjustments
  • Minor fret conditioning

Maintenance not covered:

  • Cracked bodies or necks
  • Broken headstocks
  • Warped necks from heat exposure
  • Electronics damage from misuse
  • Broken tuners due to impact
