Rent to Own & Purchasing

• When your trial rental period ends your account automatically transfers to a monthly, rent-to-own rental. Once on monthly payments, you will begin accruing credit towards ownership of the rental instrument through Elefante Music’s monthly rent to own program, along with any credit from your trial rental period. Monthly rental payments must be continual in order to accrue credit towards instrument ownership.
• You may opt to purchase the rental instrument at any time from Elefante Music under the following guidelines: Accrued credit will be applied to all rental sales. During the trial rental period, you are entitled to a 40% discount off of the list price of the instrument. During the first year of monthly rental payments, you are entitled to a 30% discount, and thereafter 20%.
• Credit cannot be combined between multiple rentals.
• In the event that a fractional sized rental instrument is paid off, the renter may have all of their accrued credit applied towards the purchase of a larger size instrument under the following guidelines: If the instrument is being exchanged within 6 months of the purchase date, an exchange fee will apply: $60.00 for Group A, $107.50 for Group B. If the instrument is being exchanged after 6 months of the purchase date, an exchange fee of the following will be charged- $120.00 for Group A, $215.00 for Group B.
• In the event that a student is interested in exchanging to a Virtuoso instrument rental, this warranty entitles them to exchange the instrument to a Virtuoso rental within the warranty period. If the instrument is being exchanged within 6 months of the purchase date, an exchange fee will apply: $60.00 for Group A, $107.50 for Group B, $132.50 for Group C. If the instrument is being exchanged after 6 months of the purchase date, an exchange fee of the following will be charged- $120.00 for Group A, $215.00 for Group B, $265.00 for Group C, $325.00 for Group D.
• From the date of purchase, the instrument will have a 1 year warranty, which covers regular maintenance and repair.

Returns

• There is no obligation to continue the rental, and it may be returned directly to our New Providence or Scotch Plains store anytime during store hours.
• For your return to be valid and discontinue billing, you must return the instrument with the serial number assigned to your account.
• During the school year, you may return the instrument to school BUT Elefante Music must be notified to obtain a Return Authorization number. If you return the instrument to the school without first obtaining a Return Authorization number from Elefante Music you will be responsible for any payments that may be due up until the time we have the instrument in our possession.
• Once your instrument has been returned your account will close and any credit you have accumulated towards the purchase of the instrument will no longer be available.

Repairs and Damage

• Renter is responsible for the condition and safekeeping of the instrument. As the renter you are responsible for damage or loss of the instrument due to negligence. The renter must pay the purchase price of the instrument, should it be returned in a condition that is damaged beyond repair (see above section “Rent to Own & Purchasing”).
• Elefante Music is the only repair shop allowed to handle the instrument.
• You may purchase our optional Loss & Damage Waiver, equal to the cost of one month’s rental payment, to cover damage deemed outside of our regularly included maintenance. Loss & Damage Waivers must be purchased at the inception of the rental, and the renter must pay the deductible should the instrument be damaged beyond repair. The deductibles are as follows: $200.00 for Group A, $300.00 for Group B, $400.00 for Group C, and $500.00 for Group D.

Exchanges

• Students may exchange their band or orchestra instrument for another band or orchestra instrument. There are no exchanges between band/orchestra instruments and fretted instruments. The appropriate pricing changes will apply.
• Students renting a fractional size string instrument may exchange their instrument for a different size at no additional cost. Payments made towards a fractional size instrument will be applied towards the larger size instrument upon exchange.

• Please see the below table of instruments and their range of values. Variations depend upon manufacturer’s prices and whether the instrument is new or previously rented.
